Pedestrian Killed in DUI Crash at Courtland Street and Auburn Avenue in Downtown Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia (June 29, 2026) – Atlanta police are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that occurred early Sunday morning in downtown Atlanta, where the driver involved is facing multiple criminal charges.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the collision happened shortly before 3 a.m. at the intersection of Courtland Street NE and Auburn Avenue NE. Officers responded to the scene and found an adult pedestrian who had been struck by a southbound Jeep Wrangler.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police said the victim was crossing Courtland Street near the crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Authorities said the driver remained at the scene following the crash and has been charged with homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence (DUI), driving under the influence less safe, reckless driving, and an open container violation.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation.
