Atlanta-Area Helicopter Crash Near Dawsonville Claims Newlywed Husband and Pilot

Dawsonville, Georgia (June 21, 2026) – A fatal helicopter crash near Dawsonville claimed the lives of a newlywed husband and a pilot shortly after a wedding celebration Friday night, according to federal authorities.

Officials reported that a Robinson R66 helicopter crashed at approximately 10:30 p.m. near Dawsonville. Three people were aboard the aircraft, including newlyweds. The couple had reportedly departed their wedding venue by helicopter just hours after the ceremony when the aircraft went down.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced two individuals dead. Family members identified one of the victims ,a pilot for Endeavor Air. The helicopter pilot was also killed in the crash. She was the lone survivor. Authorities secured the area while investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Additional details regarding the cause of the accident and the extent of the survivor’s injuries have not yet been released.

The Federal Aviation Administration is continuing its investigation into the incident. Investigators are examining evidence from the crash site and working to determine what factors may have contributed to the accident.
